It’s a kind of magic!
Since his thirteenth birthday Joost Hage is a passionate and dedicated golfer.
In 1981 Joost became junior champion and played in the National Dutch team for juniors. In 1982 he won the National Open for amateurs as well as professionals. In that same year he became a professional at the young age of twenty (20), and he realised that he has the power to overwhelm people with his golf game. This realisation allows him to develop a closing act at the end of a golf day. Twenty-five years later he is still fascinating the audience with his unique golf show in combination with music as well as the ability to make almost every inconceivable shot. The impressive combination of sound effects and the use of unconventional golf clubs; coupled with the varying heights and lengths of the shots, ensure that his show is nothing but phenomenal. This is true entertainment, as he juggles and performs acrobatics with a cat-like agility. His show is unforgettable and never fails to win the hearts of his audience.
The golf show serves as a guide for the golf game; his golf tricks are carefully and methodically built up to attain an unprecedented climax.
In more cases than not Joost will ask someone in the audience to participate and they will perform astonishing golf shots. It’s as though they have been struck by magic, unbelievable!
Joost is able to let the audience see just how easy golf really is. With the greatest of ease he hits the golf ball left and right through the trees. This may be seen as mundane but these trick shots are done with two golf sticks simultaneously or two hockey sticks, a garden hose or even the backside of the golf club and yet he is able to hit each ball perfectly. This is the true calibre of a sport entertainer who knows how to enchant his audience old or young.
This year Joost as added a new dimension to his already spectacular golf show: As soon as Joost asks the audience who is responsible for making golf such an easy sport, a young boy of four approaches, his name is Jonathan. He is Joost’s successor and can hardly wait to show what he is capable of doing with his father. With his own set of clubs he begins hitting the balls with a vigour and accuracy that many a professional would be jealous of. Whether he stands on a chair or a pail or on his knees, nothing is too crazy for Joost’s son. I guess one can say he is a chip off the old block!
